Custom 15th C aristocratic German langemesser sword by French master swordmaker Dr Fabrice Cognot, Superb. Copy of a museum original.
Hilt is silver gilt over bronze, horn and bone. Guard is fire blued steel with lion head quillons. Very light, beautifully balanced, and very fast in the hand. Blade is 1095, edge is ground very, very sharp, with an equally sharp 8" false edge coming back from the tip.
If you know Fabrice Cognot’s work, you know the qualities of this sword. There is no scabbard, so a great opportunity to add one that appeals to you. This is an exquisite piece, worth far more than the starting bid.
