Antique Basket Hilt Backsword with Brass Guard in Good Condition.
This is an antique Basket Hilt Backsword, it doesn't have a false edge but a thick spine. The blade is High Carbon Steel and is in great condition, it only possesses a few minor surface scratches along the blade.
The Basket Hilt Backsword doesn't possess any identification as far as I can tell. It has a full tang with a nut construction, so overall it is quite sturdy. The Backsword is made from carbon steel, with the basket being brass and a leather grip with some brass wire, the blade is currently unsharpened. It does come with a scabbard, a steel scabbard of some sort that is a near perfect fit for the blade, it isn't easy for the blade to fall out, but is fairly easy to take it out. The Scabbard also did it's job well keeping rust off of the blade.
I have done some restoration work on the scabbard, in which I removed the surface rust.
There are some scratches on the blade, so it has seen some use at some point, but that's to be expected from older blades, overall it's in great shape. It is full tang, and the tang is quite beefy. The Backsword measures about 40.75inches in total, 34.75 for the blade, and 4 for the grip, and it weighs about 2.5 pounds
